Redondo Beach Rotary Club

The President's message was on hiatus last week, but I'm back. Last week was very exciting with our victory in the Cardboard boat race at the District Picnic last Sunday. Redondo Beach Rotary had a great turnout at the picnic and I was very proud to see our members out there participating at the event.

"The Banzai Express" was victorious in the inaugural event and to be honest, it was no contest! We had the best designed, engineered, and constructed cardboard boat in the contest and it showed on Sunday. Our club really put in some hours on that boat and it was "smooth sailing all the way". I want to thank the club for your enthusiasm and support at the District Picnic. We are truly the best club in the District.

Also, I want to thank the members who came out and participated in the RB Employees Pancake Breakfast. We had another great turn out and even though we might of had too much help, it's better to have too much than not enough. So, thank you Redondo Beach Rotary for your support to the City of Redondo Beach.

Last Wednesday I was honored to represent the club at the RB Police Reserve Officers Awards Banquet. It was well attended by members of the community, including some of our own members who serve the City of Redondo Beach. But the highlight of the event was to honor our RB Police Reserve Officers who give "service about self" for the city. All their work is voluntary, and they are one of the reasons why we have the best police department in the South Bay. So, congratulations to all the RB Police Reserve Officer for their dedicated service to our city.

I know I sound like a broken record, but we need the money turned in for the raffle tickets for the Paul Harris Dinner Celebration. The money is due by the District Breakfast on Oct. 7th. Please turn in the money. Thank you for your service to Rotary, Larry
