Judge Andrew Kauffman was born and raised in the Los Angeles area and has been a Redondo Beach resident since 1985. He received his undergraduate degree from USC and his law degree from UCLA. He has been married for 36 years and has two grown children.

Judge Kauffman has held the following positions:

Deputy District Attorney from 1975-1985

Commissioner of the South Bay Municipal Court from 1985-1989

Judge of the Los Angeles Municipal Court from 1989-1995

Judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court from 1995-2011

Arbitrator and Mediator with Alternative Resolution Centers from 2011-present
