Women in Rotary Leadership Featured  

The current issue of South Bay Magazine honored women in leadership positions. Six of the seven women honored were 2023–2024 South Bay Rotary Club presidents.

The article presented a brief history of Rotary, noting Rotary started in 1905. It said the six women featured are accomplished CEOs, entrepreneurs and executives who have a combined 93+ years of Rotary service, exemplifying the Rotary motto “Service Above Self.”
 
They are presidents of their clubs, along with their company affiliation, Caroline Brady, San Pedro Rotary / Friends of Cabrillo Marine Aquarium;• Gilda Dyckman, El Segundo Rotary / Cars Automotive & Muffler; • Julia Parton Rosas, El Segundo Rotary / Malaga Bank ;• LeeAnn Robinson, Redondo Beach Rotary; • Lisa Hemmat, Manhattan Beach Rotary / Lido Di Manhattan, Playa Hermosa Fish & Oyster Co.; Victoria Perez-Thacker, Palos Verdes Sunset Rotary /The Little Details Co.
 
When asked what benefits do women in leadership positions bring to Rotary, they replied, “Women are people of action. When we see a need, we get it done.”

And when asked about their favorite Rotary memory, they unanimously replied, “Playing with orphaned children in the Dominican Republic and seeing their smiles. Fitting underserved children with shoes or eyeglasses, reading to curious minds. The hugs and sparkle in their eyes fill your heart and soul.”
