Ron Cody passed away peacefully on March 16, 2020 with his family in attendance. A former president of the Redondo Beach Rotary Club (2009-2010) he was instrumental in merging the North Redondo Beach Rotary Club with the Redondo Beach Rotary Club.Shortly after graduating from Redondo Union High School in 1965 Ron was drafted into the US Army; he was honorably discharged as a Specialist 5 and received the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.
After military service Ron joined the Redondo Beach Fire Department; he served the city from 1969 to 2002 having spent time in every position except Fire Chief at some point in his 33 years of service.
In addition, he was highly active in community affairs including the Scottish Fest in Orange County, Redondo Union High School Alumni Association, and the Red Cross. He volunteered for for the Red Cross for over a month in Louisiana helping victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Ron was a music fan and played in the Los Angeles Police Society of Pipes and Drums.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen, son, daughter and three grandsons.
