Redondo Beach Police Detective Scot Martin told Rotarians
that telephone scammers "look for ways to get cash or something
of value from you that can't be traced." He added, "Be vigilant,
check your credit regularly. I check mine every two weeks."
Martin explained several common telephone and internet
scams, noting some thieves have gotten away with a much
as $60,000 cash from unsuspecting Redondo Beach residents.
