Today's guest speaker, Catherine Graham spoke about college affordability, the impact of the student loans and debt on our country. Graham brings 30 years of experience providing advice to students and families as they face the challenges of affording college costs. She has delivered $3 billion in financial aid assistance at small, mid-sized, and large private and public colleges and universities across the country.
She noted that 44 million Americans have student load debt for a cumulative total of $1.5 trillion dollars. And there are five million new college students annually. She said the average college student takes eight years to complete his/her education. She identified eight specific student loan impacts to the community. Among them: delaying buying homes and cars, getting married, starting a family, and more.
