Our speaker today was Jeanne Peters, a registered dietician.  Jeanne is the wife of Rotarian Allen Peters.  She and Allen, a medical doctor, own a medical wellness clinic here in Redondo Beach Her topic was the “Benefits of Backyard Gardening from a Passionate Gardner.”  As we learned, intelligent backyard gardening can lead to numerous health benefits.

She spoke about the nutritional benefits of gardening and how it could benefit our health in many ways. She shared five steps to a happier and healthier garden. (1). start small, (2) supports a healthy soul, (3) mulch more, (4) use a raised garden bed or pots, and (5). support your spoil: feed it

Here are some additional recommendations for home gardening. Cook up some compost: this increases the PH balance. Add compost to your plants. Mulching also helps the life of the plants. Temperature also plays a big role. Companion gardening: some plants to well with certain other plants.

Mrs. Peter's was gracious enough to give away a beautiful array of plants that she created. Steve Scerra was the lucky recipient of this pot of plants.
